Favours originated within the European aristocracy, as sugar and in particular confectionery were an expensive delicacy. Favours have developed over the years from traditional Bomboniere, where 5 sugared almonds were given to signify health, wealth, fertility, happiness and longevity, to what we now see as wedding favours. Remaining though with their reason for giving as a small gift of appreciation from the Bride and Groom to their guests.
Favours can be as simple or as complicated as you want them to be. They can be homemade or bought, but usually the little presents follow the colour scheme or theme of the wedding.
